Für NO MERCY haben sich Noura Seif Hassanein und Salma Abdel Salam alias nasa4nasa von einer mythischen Frauengestalt namens El Naddaha inspirieren lassen, die Männer in den Nil – und somit in ihr Verderben – lockt. Das Stück ist während des Aufkommens der #metoo-Bewegung in Ägypten entstanden und erkundet die Grenzen von Sinnlichkeit und Begehren und deren Zusammenspiel mit Gewalt und Wut. Die Choreografinnen laden in die fieberhafte Welt ihrer virtuellen und nichtvirtuellen Realitäten. Entlang einer Setlist mit Pop-Referenzen einer Jugend in den 1990er- und 2000er-Jahren führen sie das Publikum durch verlockende wie abgründige Szenen. Temporeich, rebellisch und ohne Gnade.

nasa4nasa ist ein Tanzkollektiv aus Kairo, das 2016 von Noura Seif Hassanein und Salma Abdel Salam gegründet wurde. Die Arbeit von nasa4nasa ist hauptsächlich auf Instagram zu finden und erforscht Bildproduktion und Online-Präsenz im Rahmen von dessen Tanzpraxis. nasa4nasas Debütperformance SUASH wurde beim Next Festival in Belgien uraufgeführt und später bei ImPulsTanz [8:tension] Young Choreographer Series (2019) gezeigt. Für sein neuestes Werk Sham3edan (2023) wurde das Kollektiv mit dem Arab Fund for Arts and Culture ausgezeichnet.

For NO MERCY, Noura Seif Hassanein und Salma Abdel Salam, aka nasa4nasa, call on El Naddaha, an Egyptian mythical woman who lures men into the Nile – and thus to their doom. Created during the rise of the #metoo movement in Egypt, the piece explores the limits of sensuality and desire and its interplay with violence and rage. The choreographers invite the audience into the frenzied world of their virtual and non-virtual realities. Following a dynamic playlist featuring pop references of an adolescence in the 1990s and 2000s, they navigate through both alluring and abysmal scenes. Fast-paced, rebellious – and with no mercy.

nasa4nasa is a dance collective based in Cairo that was co-founded by dancers Noura Seif Hassanein and Salma Abdel Salam in 2016. Housed primarily on Instagram, the collective’s work explores image-making and online presence as their ongoing dance practice. nasa4nasa’s debut performance SUASH premiered at Next Festival (2018) in Belgium and was later performed at ImPulsTanz [8:tension] Young Choreographer Series (2019). They were most recently awarded by the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture for their latest work, Sham3edan (2023).
